2015 brought a whole load of implications for HR, including unsettling data security stories and historic Supreme Court decisions to name a few. In addition to these broader topics, things such as workforce generation changes, overtime regulations and finding qualified job candidates seemed to be among the top discussed issues for HR in 2015.
When the food arrives at the table, ordered from an average restaurant in America, you probably don’t think much of the size of what you are getting. Today’s portion sizes at restaurants have distorted what Americans consider a “normal” portion. According to the National Institutes of Health, America’s restaurants have doubled or even tripled food portions over the last 20 years. This has been a major factor contributing to the increase in adult and child obesity over the years.
The holiday season is a time to enjoy family and friends, attend social events and spread joy and cheer. Presenteeism is the act of attending work despite being sick. There can be many reasons for presenteeism, including not being able to afford time off due to illness, having a love and devotion to the job, or having so much to get done at work that the stress and anxiety of taking a day off is too much to bear. Presenteeism isn’t always a negative thing, but when the consequences become unhealthy, it’s something that needs to be looked more closely.
Employees continue to be confused about how Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) work. A recent survey from a tech consulting firm for health care plans found that the average consumer’s understanding of HSAs and HRAs is poor or mediocre.
